Calling for Carol James resignation
John Di Stefano

04-May-04 - Hello All

That the NDP, via Carol James, was complicit in this as well as the BCFL and HEU leadership is more than sobering--it is outrageous.

When I thought mistakenly that it was only Jim Sinclair and Chris Alnut that led to the capitulation to Gordon Campbell I felt outrage, and disappointment that the HEU membership did not know their leaders well enough to have booted them out long before. I reasoned that in some way they "deserved" what they got.

Now, however, it becomes a matter of all of us calling for Carol James resignation in addition to theirs, and her replacement by a strong labor supporter.

The HEU membership will have to deal with Sinclair and Alnut.

But all of us must look to the national consequences.

What do you think of the idea of the activist community in BC writing letters to her and Jack Layton, asking him to unequivocally reprimand James and ask for her immediate resignation?

The ripple effect of this traitorous action which it seems she initiated will have consequences for the people of the entire nation no less than provincially if Layton does not take immediate action.

The NDP can not be an endorser of a capitulator to the BC Liberal government like James if it is to have any chance of defeating the Liberals in both locations and rolling back their regressive social programs.
